Knicks And Raptors Are On The Mind Of Nash

Hooped Up | December 31, 2008

Steve Nash will be a little longer in the tooth when he’s a free agent 2010 but, that doesn’t mean that teams won’t be all over him. So far, the situations that intrigue Nash the most are the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors.  Place your bets on the 2010 Knicks looking a lot like the 2007 Suns with LeBron. Call me crazy…

“There’s a few situations out there that would be attractive, so I feel fortunate that there could be some possibilities for me,” Nash said. “One would be for me to stay here in Phoenix. I’ve had a great 4 1/2 years here. New York, obviously, is our off-season home, so we love the city. It’s a basketball mecca. Mike D’Antoni is there so there’s a lot of attractive variables. And then Toronto, to go back to Canada to play for the home team, so to speak. “I feel good that one of those three could really be a really strong possibility. Like I said, Phoenix would be the natural choice, just because I’ve been here and enjoyed success here and really feel at home here.”

Pietrus Out Indefinitely

Hooped Up | December 31, 2008

Mickael Pietrus was supposed to have a break out season after he left the Warriors to join the Magic, but now he’s out indefinitely with a broken wrist .

“The Orlando Magic escaped significant injuries last season, but the hits just keep coming this year. The Magic learned Tuesday that shooting guard Mickael Pietrus will be out indefinitely after an MRI revealed he has a fractured right wrist. Pietrus fell hard after making a dunk in the second quarter against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, bracing himself with his right arm for the landing. He did not return.”

Nowitzki Not Happy

Hooped Up | December 31, 2008

Nowitzki is not a happy camper regarding his recent suspension and he sounded off on the league when asked about his punishment.

“I was disappointed they didn’t tell me Saturday,” he said. “Their excuse was the investigation took all day. I don’t buy that.” [...] Dirk Nowitzki isn’t happy about how the NBA handled his suspension. And he shouldn’t be. But the best news out of the incident against the Jazz last week is that the Mavs’ superstar is learning to be more disciplined on future trips to Utah. Nowitzki talked for the first time about the suspension that came after his backhand swing at Utah’s Matt Harpring on Friday.”

Chuck Arrested For DUI

Hooped Up | December 31, 2008

Charles Barkley got an early start on the New Year eve festivities, and was arrested for DUI early this morning in Phoenix, Arizona.

“An officer with a law enforcement task force that targets drunken driving saw the former NBA star run a stop sign around 1:30 a.m., said Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler.

Barkley, 45, failed standard field sobriety tests after the officer smelled alcohol on him, and he was arrested. Barkley declined to submit to a breath test but was given a blood test. The results weren’t immediately available.”

No More Back-To-Backs For T-Mac

Hooped Up | December 31, 2008

Tracy McGrady is breaking down at a surprising rate these days and to preserve his “joie de vive”. The Rockets will no longer play him two days in a row. Over the last three years, Tracy McGrady has played less games than his cousin Vince Carter. This is what you call a bad sign!

“Rockets guard Tracy McGrady returned to the court Monday after missing Saturday’s game, but said he and the team have agreed he will not play both games when the Rockets play two games in as many nights. After struggling in New Orleans on Friday, McGrady sat out Saturday’s game against the Utah Jazz..”

The Rockets Sign Mutombo

Hooped Up | December 31, 2008

Greg Oden is no longer the oldest man in the NBA, after the Houston Rockets signed “42″ year old Dikembe Mutombo for the rest of the season to shore up their frontline.

“The Houston Rockets have re-signed 42-year-old center Dikembe Mutombo for the rest of the season. The move gives the Rockets an emotional leader and a backup to Yao Ming. Mutombo appeared in 39 games for Houston last season, logging most of his minutes after Yao broke his left foot in February.”

J-Rich is looking spirited in Phoenix and he clearly stayed that way last night, after he lowered the boom on doubters and the OKC Thunder with this 360 dunks on the fastbreak!

It’s pretty, it’s so pretty!

Reggie Evans Gets A “No Means No” Tech

Hooped Up | December 30, 2008

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Getting a technical foul for slapping a guy on the butt is apparently a new rule in the NBA and Reggie Evans was the first player to get hit up, after slapping Kyle Korver on the @ss last night in Utah.

Demi Moore is sure gonna be pissed that somebody laid hands on her boy toy!
