Hawks show their best side in desperate times again
Their slogan this season, plastered all over billboards and cheer towels, has been, “Now You Know.”
Not too sure about that. If the Hawks’ first-round playoff series against Milwaukee proved anything, it’s that we really don’t know. They just were taken seven games by a dented team missing its best player.
Do we know what they can be? Yes. Play defense and share the ball like they did in the last two games of their playoff series, and the Hawks will be a tough out in the next round. If Milwaukee did it to them, they can do it to Orlando. But is it possible to have a high degree of confidence after watching this team visit both ends of the spectrum so frequently over the past two weeks?

How long will game five taint the outcomes of these games? That is the question. Because the last two games, the Hawks have played really, really good basketball without playing that great. Put another way, they have put forth full effort, played great defense, and rebounded well all while failing to get much from their main offensive cog. Really, it is what you expected against the Bucks missing Bogut. Dominating performances because Atlanta was better even when they were not necessarily at their best. So if you only took the four wins, everything would be rosy and wonderful heading into this next series. Shoot, if you just forgot game five, you might feel pretty good about the Hawks right now…

Atlanta Hawks Game Seven and Series Wrap-Up
The Hawks closed out the Milwaukee Bucks 95-74 in Sunday’s game seven. The Hawks looked dominant in games six and seven and perhaps garnered a little confidence and momentum heading into their second round series with the Orlando Magic. The Hawks won the last two games by playing suffocating defense and controlling the backboard both offensively and defensively. Perhaps the biggest shot in the arm to the team was the fact that they were able to close out the Bucks without much offensive contribution from Joe Johnson. Johnson however was key defensively.
