Served: Rudy Gay Gets Got By LeBron’s Fame

Hooped Up | March 31, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

After Rudy Gay threw this dirty dunk down, on the Golden State Warriors last night. The announcer immediately calls the dunk “The LeBron James finish”. Strange, I thought that was a Rudy Gay finish – seeing as how Rudy Gay dunked the ball. Maybe I’m confused.

Anyway, I’d tell you how many points Rudy Gay finished with but, I couldn’t find the Cavaliers versus Warriors box score from last night anywhere.

Freshly Dipped: K1X No Showboating Tee

Hooped Up | March 31, 2009

I’m a pretty big fan of the K1X brand and I like their “play hard – don’t embarrass our products” motto. I don’t know when multiple pivot feet, carrying the ball in your shirt and kicking the ball between your defenders legs became offensive moves, but that BS has got to stop. NOW!

If you play with dudes like that, cop this fresh tee before your next game and bring along a dictionary to read your opponent the definition of fundamentals.

After that, demonstrate to them how a left hand lay up works too.

OKC Thunder Sign Shaun Livingston

Hooped Up | March 31, 2009

More proof that you just can’t keep good talent down and it’s hard to find. Quietly, the OKC Thunder are slowly collecting some really good pieces.

“Oklahoma City Thunder have signed former first round draft pick Shaun Livingston to a multiyear contract.

Thunder vice president and general manager Sam Presti announced the signing Tuesday. Terms of the agreement were not announced. Livingston is a 6-foot-7 guard who’s averaged 9.5 points, 6.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 11 games with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Developmental League.

Livingston was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the fourth overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft and has played in 149 NBA games with the Clippers and Miami.”

Monta Ellis Gives Turiaf The Vespa Of Passes

Hooped Up | March 31, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Monta Ellis is having a pretty good season after coming back from a wicked moped accident this summer and things should continue onward and upward for Ellis next year in Golden State.

Just watch as Monta Ellis flies down the wing like he’s on a four wheel scooter with airbags and gives Ronny Turiaf a great behind the back pass, (which is the Vespa of passes in the moped basketball community) for the two-handed slam.

As long as he remembers it’s “rubber side down” this summer, his 2009 – 2010 season should be a real good one.

Hope Dworaczyk In A Painted On Kidd Jersey

Hooped Up | March 31, 2009

Thanks Internet! Playboys Miss April Hope Dworaczyk, dated Jason Kidd last year and rumours spread that she was pregnant with Kidd’s fast break gifted offspring. However, a year has passed and she’s about as pregnant as my dad and if you haven’t reached the health unit in school yet, check this out. Contrary to popular pre-health unit belief, it actually takes 9 months of growth in the womb to conceive a child and no Stork is involved in the process. If that shocked you, closer to Christmas I’ll tell you about Santa Claus. You’ll freak.

Anyway, looking at Hope Dworaczyk in a painted on Dallas Mavericks Jason Kidd jersey at the Playboy mansion. I’ve decided that Jason Kidd is officially on the Derek Jeter mack level.  Who’s with me?

The Heat Retire Alonzo Mourning’s Number

Hooped Up | March 31, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

For the first number ever to be retired by the Miami Heat franchise, they sure picked a good one!

Last night, during halftime of the Orlando versus Miami game. Alonzo Mourning’s #33 was raised to the rafters of American Airlines Arena in a ceremony that lasted 43 minutes, honouring Zo’s stellar 15 year career. Mourning played for the Heat from 1995-2002 and then again from 2005-2008, winning a NBA Championship in the process.

The Heat franchise really went all out for Zo’s ceremony and deservedly so! Every single night he left it on the floor and was always a beast. Although injuries is what ended his career, Mourning should have zero regrets walking away from the game he played so hard.

Outlet Pass: KG’s Knee, Bynum Parties + Posey Out

Hooped Up | March 31, 2009

Kevin Garnett is expected to miss his 15th game in the past 19 tomorrow night when the Celtics host Charlotte, and the notion continues to grow that the state of the forward’s knee is worse than initially thought. But Danny Ainge continued to insist yesterday that the initial diagnosis of a strained right knee muscle hasn’t changed. “Nothing has changed from our initial diagnosis to where we are now,” said the Celtics president of basketball operations. “We’re just being cautious.”

The 60 Minutes LeBron James Shot

No time for words! I’ve been waiting to see this shot since last week and finally today, I got a chance to peep it out. So long story short, LeBron James hit an amazing half court shot during his 60 Minutes interview and then on Friday Jimmy Kimmel hit the same shot during his show.

Fake maybe, cool ya! What do you think?

Guitar Hero: METALLICA NCAA Coaches

Hooped Up | March 30, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

The NCAA 64 team tournament known as March Madness has turned into a mild fever treatable with a homeopathic remedy and now only 4 teams remain. But with a week off and this new Guitar Hero Metallica commercial featuring Rick Pitino, Mike Krzyzewski, Digger Phelps and Bob Knight hitting the Internet a new madness begins. Metallica Madness!

Until Saturday, who cares who’ll make it to the big dance between Connecticut, Villanova, Michigan State and North Carolina. All I wanna know, is how many tracks from Kill’em All will be featured in this game, should I buy a bass to get my proper Cliff Burton on and just how bad would James Hetfield kick Bobby Knight’s @ss in a fight!

Questions, questions, questions.
