Just before 2016, Kanye West dropped a Nike diss track slamming his former partners for “treating employees like slaves” and for giving LeBron James a huge contract to not run away. Today, James gave his reaction to the track.
“We don’t look upon nobody on our side, we just try to put the best athletes that we can out on the floor every night. And Phil Knight’s greatest saying is ‘always listen to the heart of the athlete listen to the words of the athlete,'” James continued. “And that’s all it’s about, nothing else.”
However, James was less cryptic in his comments regarding Yeezy’s line about Nike collaborating with Drake.
“Obviously I’m going to side with Nike no matter who it is,” James said. “It’s just, it’s family when you talk about Nike, and I’m always on their side no matter what the situation is.”
Since LeBron signed a lifetime deal with Nike worth an estimated $600 million, expect him to be towing the company line forever.
