This week Bay Area native and Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin got the wax statue treatment at Madame Tussauds is San Francisco. Per the Mercury News.
“Jeremy Lin is an amazing inspiration for, not only Bay Area children, but for athletes in general,” said Adrea Gibbs, general manager of Madame Tussauds. “He has a great following. The film, ‘Linsanity,’ propelled him to new heights, no pun intended. For us, he’s a natural. He’s from the Bay Area. We have a focus at Madame Tussauds to bring figures in who have a heartbeat with our city.”
Of the honor, Lin said.
“I did my best to stay in that pose as long as possible,” Lin said. “After 50 minutes, they spun me around. At the end, I couldn’t keep my arm up. It’s awesome,” said Lin, who turns 26 on Saturday. “It’s a little too real. It looks a lot like me.”
The wax likeness of Palo Alto native Lin joins other sports figures honored such as Joe Montana, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods and Muhammad Ali. Even more importantly, this helped to smooth things over with his move after the cake incident.
