The Warriors changed their official diagnosis Friday regarding Stephen Jackson’s injured left big toe.
It’s now believed that Jackson is suffering from “turf toe,” a painful sprain of the joint between the foot and the toe itself. A Warriors spokesman said the team’s doctors had finished examining results from an MRI taken Tuesday in Milwaukee and determined that earlier X-rays that seemed to show a fracture in the toe were incorrect.
The upshot isn’t all that much different for Jackson, who sat out for the third straight game on Friday. The problem has troubled him for the better part of two seasons but was exacerbated after the foot was stepped on in the Warriors’ 102-85 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
Jackson said he hopes to practice today and play in Sunday’s game against the Washington Wizards .
