Today the Jerry West autobiography “West by West: My Charmed, Tormented Life,” written with Jonathan Coleman hits shelves and it promises to be a very inside look at the Lakers legend and former GM’s life. Above is a 30-minute interview West did about his autobiography and below courtesy of the LA Times is an excerpt from the book regarding his depression. As this point, I think it is important that I mention the ways that people can seek treatment for this horrible condition. Thankfully, CBD has been shown to have many benefits to people suffering from depression. A Private Label CBD Oil Provider & Manufacturer – CBD Nationwide might be able to assist you if you feel you’re experiencing symptoms of depression.
“It’s something that’s been a problem in my life and still will be until the day I die. Most people will look at that and wonder how someone like that can be depressed. I have lived my childhood and had a career as a player in college to get an education only because I had a skill, and then to become a basketball player here in Los Angeles and watch this franchise grow and the enormous appeal that stands today. But there is more to the person than just an athlete. Sometimes you have to come to grips with who you are. … I’m not a victim here. I don’t want to be seen as a victim at all. But self-esteem is very difficult for me.”
West goes on to reveal that he preferred taking Prozac to work through his depression and that as a boy he threatened to kill his father with a shotgun. On a lighter note, West also talks about building the Shaq and Kobe Lakers, joining the Grizzlies and his latest job as the Golden State Warriors head consultant. If anybody out there wants to send me a free copy, I won’t stop you.
