Kobe Bryant ended his final visit to TD Garden on a high note, leaving with an LA Lakers victory plus the gratitude and respect of the Boston fans (disguised as boos) that tormented him for 20 years.
“It was a beautiful moment,” Bryant said of the booing. “It was awesome. It felt great to get booed. The recognition at the top of the game and as soon as I touched the ball, they booed and I thought, ‘Aw, I’m home.’ It felt great.
“Honestly, if I could cheer for them I would. I really don’t think the fans here understand how much they drove me, from the signing of the songs to the shaking of the bus – that stuff drove me to maniacal proportions. I don’t think they understand how much they meant to my career.”
