A few weeks ago 89-year-old Miami Heat fan Illuminada Magtoto, also known as Grandma Nelly from South Florida, issued a one-on-one challenge to Dwyane Wade via Twitter for her 90th birthday. A few weeks later, Wade accepted the challenge and invited Nelly on her birthday to the Heat practice court.
“Today after shootard. .I had the chance to meet this lovely lady. You never know the impact you have on people and meeting her made me realize yet again that my life is bigger than basketball. She presented a challenge to play me one on one for her 90th bday. Thanks to her family, the Miami Heat and TeamWade for making this wish come true.”
The two ballers ended up just shooting around, but it was a touching day for both parties. Happy Birthday Grandma Nelly!
