From director Spike Lee, a film for Knicks fans on the triangle offense http://on.wsj.com/1puZu7q
Much like the bermuda triangle. The triangle offense synonymous with Phil Jackson is shrouded in mystery. Minus all the death stuff of course. Enter filmmaker and uber Knicks fan Spike Lee to the rescue who will be making a film to divulge to mystery of the offense that helped make Phil the Zen Master, Michael a legend and Kobe the Black Mamba.
“I’ve never done anything like this before,” Lee said. “This is trying to explain to the average fan the triangle system. It’s sort of like the mysterious mythology and Zen that Phil Jackson has used to win six times in Chicago and five times in L.A.”
Jackson, who sat on a high stool on the sidelines while [Jim] Cleamons and [Kurt] Rambis walked Lee and some of the Knicks through a couple of triangle sets, joked that he hopes Lee’s film isn’t too instructional—particularly to Knicks opponents. “The less they know, the better off we are,” he said. […] “It’s one of the many systems in basketball to go on,” Jackson said of the triangle. “It just so happens that it has been highly talked about and less copied and used than a lot of things that go on in basketball. It’s really about the discipline. It’s about the detail and the fundamentals that go into it.”
Set to drop on October 24th on MSG, the film will be called “What Is the Triangle Offense: A Spike Lee Orange and Blue Skies Joint.”
