Surprise! Well, not really. For the last few weeks, the NBA has been covering the career of Kobe Bryant like he was going into the Hall of Fame instead of playing in this years All-Star game. So it wasn’t a shock when Kobe was named MVP of the game on his home court in LA.
The league wanted “the weekend of Kobe”, and what a weekend of Kobe it was on all fronts. From the parties, the movies, the immortalizing and finally the all-star game where Mamba had 37 points coupled with a western conference win. Kobe Bryant could do no wrong and that made for one of the more memorable all-star weekends since New Orleans hosted the mid-season event.
Sunday marked the fourth time Kobe Bryant won the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award, which ties him with basketball legend Bob Pettit winning the award and puts him one ahead of Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal and Oscar RobertsonĀ in taking the star of stars trophy home.
