Kobe Bryant has been playing against Kevin Garnett for 15 years with no love lost between the two fierce competitors. Tonight again the two will do battle in the Boston Garden, and contrary to popular belief. Kobe actually thinks that KG isn’t a jerk at all. Really!?!
“He’s a Celtic,” Bryant joked when asked about Garnett’s demeanor. “That’s what Celtics do. You guys will love that one. He’s always been intense. I’ve known him since high school and he’s always been intense. But he’s a great guy. I’ve known him for years. He’s not a (jerk) by any stretch of the imagination. He’s a good dude. But he plays his heart out though.”
That whole “by any stretch of the imagination” statement is taking it a bit too far, but if being a slight jerk keeps Garnett hungry. Maybe more players should be jerks too, with the exception of the cancer bashing of course. For the most part, trash talk serves as another form of defense at times, and it especially helps when you’re getting older like KG with slower feet. Why guard someone with your legs if you can just berate them from a far I always say.
