Landing LeBron James wasn’t good for everybody in Miami. When is became more and more apparent that the Heat were major players to sign LeBron. Season tickets in South Beach began to sell like hotcakes and soon all season tickets were sold out. Normally that’s a good thing, but shortly after that success. The Heat organization decided to fire its season tickets staff since they were — productive.
In a statement, the Heat confirmed the dismissals Friday afternoon, saying that with an “exhausted” inventory of season-tickets “we no longer require a season ticket sales team to sell tickets.” Stephen Weber, vice president of sales, delivered the news to about 30 ticket sales people Friday morning, according to one of the staffers who asked not to be named because he is seeking another job in sports. The dismissals reflect the new Heat position in basketball: it can sell tickets without really trying.
Well, that won’t inspire work productivity in the future. If there was ever a case for playing more Mahjong during work hours, it’s this one. Worst management strategy EVER Miami. Maybe these season ticket staffers should pull a reverse Lebron James and take their talents to Cleveland.
