Lakers win, Lakers win, theeeeeee Lakers win! It certainly wasn’t the prettiest game, but somehow despite shooting 32.5% from the field the LA Lakers nabbed their 16th title in franchise history and their second straight title in as much years.
Finals MVP Kobe Bryant shot 6-24 from the field and still somehow managed to finish with 23 points, and lead a drama filled Lakers fourth-quarter rally to beat the Boston Celtics 83-79 in Game 7 of the NBA finals. This was Kobe’s fifth championship and second time repeating that feat since the Laker three-peat from 2000-02.
Ron Artest we huge down the stretch hitting key buckets to keep the C’s at bay once LA finally took the lead finishing with 20. While Pau Gasol dropped 19 points of his own and grabbed a game high 18 rebounds.
“Well, first all I want to thank everybody in my hood,” Artest said in an ABC interview right after the game. “I definitely want to thank my doctors … my psychiatrist, she really helped me relax a lot.”
With their fifth title in 11 seasons, the Lakers moved one championship behind Boston’s 17 banners for the overall NBA lead.
