Matt Barnes Signs With Orlando

The Orlando Magic made another bold acquisition on Monday, agreeing in principle on a two-year deal with free-agent forward Matt Barnes.

Aaron Goodwin, the agent who represents both Barnes and All-Star Magic center Dwight Howard, confirmed the deal early Tuesday morning in a text message to the Orlando Sentinel.

“He has agreed to a two-year deal, and I believe that Dwight’s recruitment of him truly sealed the deal,” Goodwin wrote.

The agreement with the 6-foot-7 forward — first reported by espn.com — gives the defending Eastern Conference champions the additional wing player that Magic General Manager Otis Smith wanted. Barnes averaged 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game last season for the Phoenix Suns.

  1. Steve Nash should take 20% of his former teammates salaries, or the dumb teams that sign former Nash teammates should pay him, because it is beyond me how guys who worked so hard for buckets before being in Phoenix, had it so easy, now jump ship so fast to another team and get exposed and struggle, there is only one guy that has a carreer after Phoenix and its not Shaq, its Joe Johnson. Lets see who is extinct and on there 2 or 3 team right now, ummmmm, Richardson, Marion, Tim and Kurt Thomas, Eddie House, these guys have never been the same, and never will, in his own rights Johnson cheated himself out of learning from someone willing to teach him and help him grow. If shooting more shots and having more spot light helps you grow, then……. or is it the money and stupid GM’s
