The Suns will eventually have to make a decision to either keep Stoudemire or O’Neal, as all NBA teams begins to tighten their belts in tough economic times.Â
“There are enough indications out of Phoenix to believe that the Suns will revisit trading Shaquille O’Neal with the intention of saving money and giving Amar’e Stoudemire a contract extension to keep him off the market in 2010. There has been talk of Shaq going to Dallas, where Mark Cuban is never afraid to add salary for a star player in the twilight of his career (Jason Kidd). With one year left on his deal for $21 million, O’Neal is an enticing short-term risk. And, at 37, he’s apparently determined to cut down his weight and be lean and mean — he’s calling it “Shaqlyte” — for training camp in October, wherever that may be.”
The Suns gotta keep Amar’e Stoudemire and a Dallas – Shaq marriage seem like a good match. Besides, Marc Cuban could care less if Shaq is 37 because signing him would be great for ticket sales and I really don’t think Marc Cuban even wheres a belt that needs tightening anyways.
