If the New York Knicks weren’t so keen on dangling the sword of Damocles over the head of Stephon Marbury for as long as possible. They could have landed Shawn Marion!
“The Miami Heat, which reportedly is shopping Shawn Marion, was believed to have had some curiosity about Marbury at the start of the season. A source told Newsday that the Knicks have given the Heat “a standing offer” of Marbury for Marion, but it appears Miami’s interest has fizzled, especially after the latest issue. The Mavericks, who need a backup for Jason Kidd, seem a possible destination. Of course, none of this happens until Marbury is released by the Knicks, which could take some time.”
