Warriors Send Stephen Jackson To Bobcats

Hooped Up | November 16, 2009

Serenity Now! After months of Stephen Jackson feeling ship wrecked on the S.S. Nellie. The Golden State Warriors have pulled the trigger on a deal to send Jax to Charlotte in a four-player deal.

In exchange,  the Bobcats ship Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic to the Warriors for Jackson and guard Acie Law. The Bobcats were not on Jackson’s list of teams he wanted to be traded to, so that’s why the Warriors made him walk the plank to Charlotte. Read More »

Adam Morrison Traded To The Lakers

Hooped Up | February 7, 2009

The man and the moustache Adam Morrison is headed west to the Lakers after Larry Brown got his third trade wish of the season granted.

The deal has the Lakers receiving Adam Morrison and reserve Shannon Brown while the Bobcats receive Vladimir Radmanovic in exchange. Adam Morrison hasn’t worked out for the Bobcats since being drafted 3rd overall in the 2006 draft and Vladimir Radmanovic has been in Phil Jackson’s dog house so often he receiving mail there.

A quick way to find yourself on the move with Larry Brown is lack of defensive play and Adam Morrison supplied that on a nightly bases as a Bobcat. But, with a deep Lakers squad his strengths can be used sparingly.

Radmanovic brings some depth to both forward spots for the Bobcats and provides an outside shooting presence as long as he’s not snowboarding.

Currently, the Lakers have a the best record in the west and the Bobcats are 5 games out of a playoff spot in the east.

Hooped Up: Los Angeles Lakers 08-09 Season Preview

Hooped Up | October 28, 2008

A team-by-team preview of all 30 NBA teams heading into the 2008 – 2009 season, Hooped Up style.

Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers came into the NBA finals on fire after acquiring Pau Gasol  but got man handled by the Boston Celtics. They never really added or subtracted from this line up, but they will have a healthy Andrew Bynum returning that will have to co-exist with Pau Gasol on the block; they moved Lamar Odom to the bench to be the sixth man capable of playing all five positions and will start Vladimir Radmonovic in his place. MVP Kobe Bryant is angry about how the season ended last year and who can blame him, the Lakers got moirdered in the finals.

This team wants another shot at the title and it looks like they might just get it.

Projected Starters: PG - Derek Fisher / SG - Kobe Bryant / SF - Vladimir Radmonovic / PF - Pau Gasol / C - Andrew Bynum

Additions: Joe Crawford, Sun Yue, Josh Powell, Dwayne Mitchell, Brandon Heath, CJ Giles

Losses: Ronny Turiaf, D.J. Mbenga, Ira Newble

Projected Wins: 60+

Team Theme Song:  Madvillain – All Caps
Kobe Bryant wants you to spell his name KOBE BRYANT to secure his legacy of success without SHAQ and only a CHAMPIONSHIP win will allow this.

Overall
After a MVP season and championship beatin’ by the Celtics, Kobe Bryant is angry and will play with one single thought all season long.  Revenge!!!  12 year pro Derek Fisher who has seen his fair share of playoff combat has got to feel the same way too. A healthy contract seeking Andrew Bynum in the front-court will have his best season ever and Pau Gasol will be consistent at the power forward spot. Lamar Odom is always the x-factor and with his new bench role, he might turn out to be more valuable as a movable line up piece.

If they don’t make another trip to the the NBA finals this year, it would be considered a failure. Straight up!

Vlady’s Up, Lamar’s Down

Hooped Up | June 19, 2008

After a sub par playoff performance, Lamar Odom might be back on the block again.  Will Vladimir Radmonovic be a better fit starting with Andrew Bynum back is the question.

The issue now is making the pieces fit with one problem position, small forward . . . where Odom would have to go with Bynum at center and Gasol at power forward.

Jackson wants a shooter there badly enough to start his favorite Martian, Vladimir Radmanovic. The weakest part of Odom’s game is shooting, a problem that came home to roost with Garnett backing off him.

Then there’s Odom’s $14-million salary, as the Lakers assume as much as $90 million in additional salary and luxury tax over the next three seasons with Gasol.

However, from the day they made the trade, the Lakers never thought they would end up paying that much, suggesting they were already thinking of moving Odom.
