Reigning MVP Stephen Curry came out guns blazing on opening night dropping 40 points and 24 of them came in the first quarter. As it turns out, receiving his championship ring before the game served as great motivation.
“All that stuff helped tonight — enjoy the ceremony and then get locked in and play the game,” Curry said. “This was almost like the Finals, with so much hoopla before the game. Then you take a few deep breaths and try to stay aggressive.”
