In a recent interview with Nice Kicks to discuss his new DR34M signature line of sports apparel. Hakeem Olajuwon effectively pointed out how rising stars Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant could benefit from his low-post training during the offseason like many other have in the past.
Here is his analysis of Blake Griffin:
“I don’t know that I would like to, but a player that needs [my help] is Blake Griffin. If you look at Blake, he’s very explosive, but he needs the moves that can get him in that position where he can finish. […] So he would be an ideal guy to where, when I watch him play and I see how explosive he is, I’d give him all of these moves to take him to a whole different level.”
Here is his analysis of Kevin Durant:
“(He’s) very skilled, but doesn’t take advantage of his height in the post,” Olajuwon said. “He’s much taller than most of the guys who guard him. He’s got all the outside game, but now he needs to take them in the post. In other words, there’s something for everybody.”
Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, JaVale McGee, Kenneth Faried and many others have trained with Olajuwon in the past. BTW, training with “The Dream” cost a cool $100,000 for two weeks of tutelage. That’s one mighty expensive “Dream Shake.”
