Momma, there goes that man — and rookie head coach.
Golden State finally hired a bench boss and it was Mark Jackson selected to right the Warriors ship. A great point guard in his own right ranking third all-time in assist. Jackson also played for hall of fame coaches Lou Carnesecca, Lenny Wilkens, Jerry Sloan, Pat Riley and Larry Brown. Which should come in handy.
“I learned a lot throughout my career from playing for great minds, and, I didn’t just play for them, I stole from them,” Jackson said in an ESPN interview. “It put me in the position to one day run my own show. I’m excited about what lies ahead for me. It’s a thrilling, thrilling time for me and my family.”
Jackson plans to make the Warriors a defensive minded team. So his players better get used to hearing “Hand down, man down,” every — single — day.
