The NBA fun police have suspended referee Joe DeRosa for one game (sans pay) for playing catch with a heckler at halftime of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals Tuesday night at Amway Arena.
After a first half between of the Celtics vs. Magic game, DeRosa and fellow referees Marc Davis and Bill Kennedy approached the scorer’s table to get their ref jackets and heckler Franz Hanning CEO of Wyndham vacations yelled at DeRosa who then tossed the game ball at Hanning, who tossed it back at DeRosa.
For being awesome, DeRosa will miss the next game he was scheduled to officiate and if he booked a vacation through Wyndham, I’m sure his luggage will end up being lost.
