This TED talk USC Professor Rajiv Maheswaran gave about how he and his colleagues used big data to figure out what a good basketball shot looks like, should tickle your fancy. His recreation of Ray Allen’s shot to save the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals is pretty cool too.
