Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors protected their home court advantage behind the MVP’s 26 points and 8 assists as Golden State to beat the Cavaliers in a Game 1 overtime victory.
“It all doesn’t work if we don’t get stops. That’s what fueled all of it,” Curry said. “We just forced them into tough shots that whole overtime. It was the classic five minutes that we needed.”
Curry is now the 31st regular-season MVP to appear in the NBA Finals after winning the award in the same season. Game two of the NBA Finals takes place in Oakland Sunday.
