For another year to no ones surprise, Nike still holds a death grip on the basketball shoe market according to Forbes. Boasting four of the top five most popular signature shoes being sold today. The swoosh is outpacing all of their competitors by a country mile.
Sitting on top of the heap is LeBron James, whose signature LeBron 12 generated a whopping $340 million in sales. For his efforts King James receives an estimated $20 million a year from Nike.
To put into perspective just how high that number sits on the leaderboard. Reigning MVP Kevin Durant who owns the richest endorsement deal in sports ($300 million over 10 years) and his signature KD7 are second on the list at $195 million. That’s a difference of $145 million.
Derrick Rose with adidas sits number 5 on the list, while Kyrie Irving and his debut shoe continues to surge since being released only three months ago. Below is a look at the Top 10.
