New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony joined an elite club Sunday night, when he scored his 20,000th career point on a three against the visiting Charlotte Hornets at Madison Square Garden. Per ESPN:
“It’s a humbling experience for me,” Anthony said after scoring 28 points, including the game-winning jumper, in the Knicks’ 96-93 win over the Charlotte Hornets. “I never thought I would be sitting here talking about me scoring 20,000 points. I used to look at when I played with [Allen Iverson] back in Denver and I’d look at him and see his stats and say, ‘Man, you got 20-something thousand points.’ I never thought I’d be here talking about me reaching that milestone. I’m definitely humbled by this experience and I got more to go.”
Melo became the 6th youngest player to reach the 20,000 point plateau.
