Just over 20,000 fans piled into The Palace of Auburn Hills to welcome the 1989 Detroit Pistons Championship team for a halftime ceremony.
“I think the way they treat our team, the way they greet us, the love they have for us as a team, it’s unique, it’s special,” 1989 captain Isiah Thomas said after the ceremony. “We have the same love for them as they have for us. As I’ve said before, it’s not a one-way street.”
