In a recent interview when Kevin Love was asked “Who’s the best ‘4’ in the league: you or Blake Griffin?” Love not only said that he was, but he also proclaimed himself to be the best player in the league at his position. Based on the numbers, he has a solid point.
“I believe I’m the best ‘4’ in the league,” he said. “I think you have to believe that you’re the best. I think Mohammad Ali even said, ‘I was the greatest before I knew I was.’ I think everybody needs to have that mindset. That’s part of winning the mind game from the very start. You have to believe it. You have to hold yourself accountable.”
Once again Kevin Love is in rare company beginning the season with seven straight games of at least 20 points and 12 rebounds, a feat that was only accomplished by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar before him. Love is averaging 26.1 points, 2.3 threes, 14.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks.
