Miami forward Mike Miller has something to celebrate even before the NBA finals begin as he and his wife brought their infant daughter home from the hospital about two weeks after her birth. Baby Jaelyn Miller had required treatment in a pediatric intensive care unit after being born with four holes in her heart, a condition called ventricular septal defect, Miller said Sunday, a day after the child was released.
He said doctors had told him and his wife, Jennifer, that at least one of the holes has closed.
“Obviously, that’s my main concern right now,” said Miller, who had spent as much time as possible at the hospital with Jaelyn and his wife while continuing to play in the Heat’s Eastern Conference finals series against Chicago.
“She’s doing a lot better, which is big.” Miller said Jaelyn has a series of doctor appointments scheduled, including one on Tuesday just hours before he and the rest of the Heat host the Dallas Mavericks in game one of the NBA finals.
