Adversity has known Dwyane Wade since his days growing up the son of a mother addicted to heroin on the South Side of Chicago. In a recent re-released ESPN E:60 piece that features Wade and his relationship with his mom. Fans get a glimpse of the struggle Wade endured to make it to the league and they also get to see that Dwyane Wade never stopped supporting his mother that battled demons for more than half his life.
While Wade was away at college working hard to make a name for himself at Maquette, continued to spiral out of control as she served multiple stints in jail for selling crack. It wasn’t until Wade wrote his mother a letter in jail calling her his hero did the real change in her life take shape.
With the continued support of her son, and her faith. His mother became an ordained Baptist minister and formed the non-denominational Temple of Praise Binding and in 2008 Dwyane Wade purchased a nearly 2 million dollar church building for his mother’s ministry.
