Apparently, it was quite the scene inside the Portland locker room Tuesday night after a suddenly healthy and fortified group of Trail Blazers turned in the performance of their season during a 105-96 victory over the Miami Heat.
“You should have seen this locker room after the game,” said 15-year veteran Marcus Camby. “Guys were cheering and jumping around like we won the NCAA championship. That’s a great feeling to be around.”
It was a surprising, if not spectacular, performance from the Blazers (37-27), who are tied with Denver for fifth place in the Western Conference and played one of their best games in years.

Denver Nuggets coach George Karl has signed a three-year contract extension which includes three one-year team options after the extension. The team announced the deal as “multi-year” but did not release details.
“We’re very happy. Really, really excited,” said Masai Ujiri, Nuggets executive vice president of basketball operations. “We’re extremely excited to have George done. It’s been one of our priorities.”
Ujiri said the Nuggets have been working on the extension for several months. The talks took a backseat to the Carmelo Anthony trade discussions for a long period of time.

If Sacramento’s NBA team does move here, “Anaheim” must be first in the team name and the only geographical identifier, according to a city contract.
While it’s not clear if the team would remain the Kings, go back to the original moniker, the Royals, or come up with a new name, the contract makes one thing clear: The team won’t be the Los Angeles Kings of Anaheim.
Nor would it be the Orange County Royals or even the Mighty Kings of Anaheim.
The jokes are already flying. But city officials apparently learned their lesson after the bitterness that erupted when the Angels changed the team name in 2005 from the Anaheim Angels to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
