Around the time Punch-Out!! Gold was released, Minoru Arakawa (former Nintendo President / Founder) was at a Mike Tyson boxing match and was so impressed with Tyson’s “power and skill”, that he was inspired to use Mike Tyson’s name and likeness in next port of the Punch-Out!! series.
