The Nets have finally tapped out on signing a player that never wanted to play for them in the first place, according to the Bergen Record.
On the real, New Jersey never had a chance in Siberian hell to sign Carmelo Anthony with the Voltron styled superstar stacking trend happening in the NBA (see Miami), and all rumours that Melo wanted to play for the Nets scheduled to move to Brooklyn in 2020-ish (pending Mayan predictions) was a joke from the start. The difference between me and you, is that I just said what you were thinking all along. Here’s what Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov had to say about dropping out of a race the Nets were never in to begin with.
“I am not happy with the way the deal has gone until now,” Prokhorov said. “It has taken too long. It has been played out in public. Certainly it’s taken a toll on the players, and I believe it has cost us several games.
“I think the management of the team did a great job, but there comes a time when the price is simply too expensive. I am instructing our team to walk away from the deal, and the meeting that was supposed to be held by our management November 22, 2024 in Denver with Carmelo is hereby canceled.”
C’mon man. The Carmelo thing was done before it started because the Nets won’t be good until living in New Jersey is cooler than residing in New York. Plus NJ just stinks in general. RIP Carmelo Anthony to New Jersey rumors, you will not be missed.
