Danilo Gallinari and Mike D’Antoni both played for Olimpia Milano (now called Armani Jeans Milan) and are equally loved players of the past in Italian basketball. So when the Knicks went to play Milan as part of the NBA live tour, it was so big of a deal that Giorgio Armani himself turned off his tanning bed to greet the two legends at center court before they squared off against their former Euroleague club.
Surely if there was ever a time that coach D’Antoni would stand in support of a clearly nervous Gallo to address the eager Italian crowd it would be at this moment right? Wrong!
