Tracy McGrady is trying to work himself back into his $23.4 million per year superstar form while the Pistons pay him a bargain basement price of $1.35 million for a veteran with 10 or more years of service.
“A lot of players have been in our gym, and that’s good news,” coach John Kuester said. “They realize how important they are, and their making adjustments to make themselves better is very important for us. I’ll tell you this, what Tracy has done so far is put in a tremendous amount of time with Arnie. I had a chance to watch him work out, and he was moving extremely well.”
“Moving extremely well” is a step up for McGrady who seemed hobbled last year with the Knicks although he was deemed “healthy”. If T-Mac can play at about 60% of his all-star caliber days, the Pistons would have themselves a legit steal on their hands.
