Real Madrid signed former New York Knicks guard Sergio Rodriguez to a three-year contract on Friday.
The Knicks acquired Rodriguez last season from the Sacramento Kings as part of the three-team deal that brought former scoring champion Tracy McGrady to New York in February.
The 24-year-old Spanish player spent the previous three seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers.
The 6-foot-3 Rodriguez averaged 7.4 points and 3.4 assists in 27 games for the Knicks. He averaged 4.3 points and 2.9 assists during his four seasons in the league.
Rodriguez was a member of Spain’s world championship-winning team in 2006.
Madrid said the player would be officially introduced on Tuesday.
