Boston mayor Thomas M. Menino might like sports — might, but he sure loves making sure sports bloggers have proper ammo for hilarious posts.
At a dedication ceremony yesterday at the Tobin Community Center, Menino called NBA commissioner David Stern, “Donald Sterns.” Which might mean the commish is getting fat, hence the plural or that Clippers owner Donald Sterling and David Stern have merged to form one being.
The first time you probably ever heard of this mayoral dude was when he called “Varitek splitting the uprights” one of Boston’s greatest moments in sports when he meant “Vinatieri” in reference to the Patriots’ kicker and not the current captain of the Red Sox. Oops!
