Dallas came into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams and everything was butter or perhaps gravy with the Mavs fan base. There was not enough Mavs Kool-Aid in the fridge to go around.
Now, the Mavericks are staring a first round exit in the face courtesy of the rival Spurs and that butter is melting, a hair is in the gravy and people rather have Sunny D or delicious Purple Stuff in the back judging by the TV ratings in big D.
Game 1, the Mavericks lone win, scored a combined 13.1 rating on Channel 21 and TNT.
Game 2 scored a 10.0
Game 3, Channel 21 and ESPN, scored a 9.9.
Game 4, Channel 21 and TNT 8.5
In short, all those fancy mumbo jumbo TV numbers mean that the audience plummeted from 332,740 to 215,900 homes for Sunday’s Game 4. That ain’t good son. Maverick fans have seen this show and they know how it always ends, so what’s the point of watching this car wreck with commercials.
To spice things up, I suggest they use the video below before all televised games to boost numbers. Besides maybe a Sith Lord or J. R. Ewing, no one can resist the power of Dallas and Star Wars combined.
