The smallish Suns just got smaller.
Phoenix lost its only true center, Robin Lopez, to a foot fracture that will sideline him six to eight weeks, including at least 11 regular-season games.
Lopez landed oddly on his left foot and went down after charging during Saturday’s scrimmage. It felt like any other ankle sprain to Lopez until pain in his foot intensified Sunday night.
Monday’s X-rays showed a break in his fifth metatarsal, which connects to the little toe. He will have surgery to insert a screw into his left foot, which had a plate and four screws inserted in 2004 for a fourth metatarsal fracture.
