A few weeks back, Ramon Sessions was the front-runner for the Knicks PG spot ahead of Hall Of Fame bound Allen Iverson and veteran floor leader Jason Williams. Now, Williams has since signed with the defending eastern conference champion Orlando Magic, Allen Iverson is rumoured to be either signing with the Charlotte Bobcats or Memphis Grizzlies and the Knicks are cooling on signing Sessions.
This news makes me think that Scott Layden has been hired as a consultant to Donnie Walsh. Are you kidding me?
Donnie Walsh is not prepared to make a multi-year commitment to the 23-year-old Sessions. As we said, Sessions is still very much on the radar, but his representation believes that Walsh would prefer to move a player off the 2010 payroll before he makes a commitment beyond next summer. That would suggest that there is very little chance the Knicks will sign Sessions this summer, unless Walsh can find a taker for either player.
Both Allen Iverson and Jason Williams would have played for less than Sessions and both Williams and Iverson would have accepted one-year deals which helps the Knicks LeBron / Wade lottery chances. Not to mention, both of them are better than Sessions.
At this rate, I’m expecting Chris Childs to announce a comeback to the NBA with the Knicks any day now, good grief.
