USA Basketball Runs Over China In Opener

Dwyane Wade led the Americans with 19 points, LeBron James added 18 points, and the U.S. beat China, 101-70, in the Beijing Games basketball Olympic opener on Sunday. Kobe Bryant finished with 13 points.  Billed as the most-watched basketball game in history, with more than 1 billion TV viewers expected to tune in.

This game lived up to the hype for excitement with Yao Ming dropping a three to open the scoring.  After that highlights were few and far between on the Chinese squad.  Yao Ming finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Yi Jianlian added 9 points and 3 rebounds, and newly-signed Lakers’ point guard Sun Yue tallied 8 points and 2 assists in the loss.
