Michael Jordan Owner Press Conference

Hooped Up | March 19, 2010

It is now signed sealed and delivered with proof of the press conference and Michael Jordan is the first former player to become a majority owner of a NBA franchise after he purchased the Charlotte Bobcats from Bob Johnson for an estimated cool $275 million.

“If you had asked me 5, 10 years ago if I would be here with the opportunity to own a basketball team, I would have never believed it,” Jordan said at Time Warner Cable Arena. “Yet it’s a dream come true for me.

“I just want the city to experience what winning is all about.”

The Bobcats have lost $100 million under Bob Johnson, and Jordan hopes to turn that around to save NBA basketball in North Carolina.

Jordan Will Buy The Bobcats

Hooped Up | February 27, 2010

Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest player in basketball history, has reached a deal to buy an NBA franchise.

Mr. Jordan has agreed to buy a majority interest of the Charlotte Bobcats from Robert L.Johnson, the team’s majority owner, according to a statement released by Mr. Johnson Saturday. The deal is subject to league approval.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the sale price is based on a franchise value of less than $300 million–”in the mid-to-high twos,” said a source familiar with the matter.

Will Michael Jordan Buy The Bobcats?

Hooped Up | February 25, 2010

The nine-month saga that is the sale of the Charlotte Bobcats could be resolved in the next three days, possibly today.

Sources close to the situation anticipate a quick resolution, as to whether Bobcats managing partner Michael Jordan or ex-Houston Rockets president George Postolos will close a deal with majority owner Bob Johnson.

Jordan’s window of first-refusal to buy the team is close to expiration, sources say, and he was still recruiting partners this week to invest $260 million or more to complete a purchase of Charlotte’s NBA franchise.

Jordan has repeatedly declined interview requests on his effort to buy the team.

Freshly Dipped: Air Jordan 2010 Silver Collection

Hooped Up | February 25, 2010

Michael Jordan has been retired from the NBA for nearly 7 seasons, is now 47 years young and still shaves his head. So it’s possible he could have a shock of silver running through his fro if he grew it out, but his 25th anniversary collection is definitely silver.

The Jordan 2010 kicks have been making its web rounds over the last few months and now they are going back to college, complete with uniforms to match them in a hover car futuristic silver colorway.  North Carolina, Georgetown and Cal will all model the collection and who knows, Marcus Jordan might just do his own thing for University of Central Florida.

Yesterday, Jordan’s alma mater UNC wore the complete 2010 Silver Anniversary uniform versus Florida State; tonight, Cal will wear them against Arizona; and Saturday, Georgetown will wear them against Notre Dame.

Peep the silvery goods below.

Freshly Dipped: Air Jordan Alpha 1 New York Knicks

Hooped Up | February 16, 2010

The way Michael Jordan owned New York in the 90’s and shattered their dreams nearly every time he laced them up in Madison Square Gardens. You would never the Knicks and Michael Jordan would ever have anything good in common.

Well, hold the phone Samuel! Cause the Air Jordan Alpha 1 with a New York Knicks colorway, shuts down that notion like an important Charles Smith lay up denied by Horace Grant, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen (pump fake dammit!). Read More »

LeBron James And Dwight Howard McDonald’s Super Bowl Commercial

Hooped Up | February 8, 2010

While I was knee deep in my database and you were out laughing, dancing, drinking and watching the Super Bowl. LeBron James and Dwight Howard remixed a class much better than Will.i.am could and it made me almost want to eat McDonald’s — okay maybe it wasn’t that good, but it was still pretty good is all I’m saying.

Respect the 1993 McDonald’s original after the jump.
