Served: McGrady Gets Got By Delonte West

Delonte West decided to climb mount Tracy McGrady and plant his flag. It’s has got to be embarrassing to be a New York Knicks fan these days I tells ya.

To witness more Knick humiliation, see below.

Homer News: Cleveland Cavaliers (47-14)

Hooped Up | March 2, 2010

Cleveland Cavaliers deliver a thorough throttling of the ‘wait ’til next year’ Knicks, 124-93
Ultimately salary cap space doesn’t show up in the box score. That’s a lesson that the Knicks have been swallowing just about every night for the last two years and they took it again Monday night one more time from a team they would dearly love to plunder. Looking like a collection of guys playing out the string of their contracts, the New York Knicks were throttled by the Cavs, 124-93.

It was a three-game season series sweep for the Cavs (47-14), who collected their fourth straight win and eighth in row against the Knicks (20-39) dating back two seasons.

Delonte West Out With Broken Finger

Hooped Up | January 23, 2010

The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered another injury blow on Friday, learning that point guard Delonte West had broken a finger on his shooting hand in an NBA victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

West broke the ring finger on his left hand in Thursday night’s game, which he was starting in place of Mo Williams. Williams is sidelined for at least one month with a sprained left shoulder suffered in Tuesday’s game against Toronto.

The Cavaliers said West would miss a game against Oklahoma City on Saturday, but they don’t know how long he will be out. Doctors won’t be able to evaluate West’s injury fully until the swelling subsides.

West broke his finger scrambling for a loose ball in the fourth quarter of Cleveland’s 93-87 victory. It was Cleveland’s second triumph over the reigning NBA champions in less than a month.

Served: Josh Smith Gets Got By Delonte West

Hooped Up | December 30, 2009

Josh Smith is an athlete of scary abilities and he rarely ever gets dunked on. So when Delonte West crowned him, I don’t blame him for getting a tech for taunting. Heck, if I dunked on Josh Smith like that I would grab the announcers mic and drop a freestyle about it while LeBron danced in the background.

Note to self, buy jump soles.

All-Anything: The All-Eccentric Team

Hooped Up | November 13, 2009

To quote, English writer and critic Edith Sitwell. “Eccentricity is not, as dull people would have us believe, a form of madness. It is often a kind of innocent pride, and the man of genius and the aristocrat are frequently regarded as eccentrics because genius and aristocrat are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd.”

With that quote, I give you the All-Eccentric team. To make this squad you had to be on a NBA roster in the past year and be considered borderline crazy to the untrained eye.

Delonte West Is One Far Out Dude Brah

Hooped Up | November 12, 2009

Delonte West had a busy day being eccentric yesterday. He missed his chartered flight to Orlando, Mike Brown placed him on the inactive list for an undisclosed incident and when West spoke to the media for the first time since he had weapons charges laid against him. He went all cryptic about what happened the night he was taken down by the man.  Read More »

Parker Could Make West Sixth Man

Hooped Up | October 5, 2009

The longer the Delonte West ordeal plays out, the more the Cavaliers might get used to Anthony Parker as their startingshooting guard.

Parker, signed to a two-year contract in the offseason, has lived up to expectations through the first week of training camp.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pounder was a starter in all three previous years in Toronto. When asked if it mattered to him whether he starts or comes off the bench, he gave the politically correct answer.

“It doesn’t matter,” Parker said. “Either way, I’m going to have some opportunities. I’ll be on the floor with LeBron (James) or Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) regardless.”

Delonte West Surfaces

Hooped Up | October 1, 2009

Delonte West has returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing the first two days of training camp.

West practised with his teammates Thursday after missing the first four practices. West called the absences unexcused, but said he’s been in contact with general manager Danny Ferry.

West could still face a league suspension after he was recently arrested for gun possession in Maryland. Police pulled over his three-wheel motorcycle for a traffic violation and found he was carrying three loaded weapons – two handguns and a shotgun in a guitar case.

Another Day, No Delonte

Hooped Up | September 30, 2009
LeBron James says the Cavaliers will welcome back Delonte West, whenever he comes back.

West was absent from training camp for the second straight day Wednesday morning while he deals with personal issues. Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry has spoken at length to West, coach Mike Brown said, adding that the absence is unexcused and that West will be fined. Ferry declined to meet with reporters Wednesday.

“We’ve been around this block before with Delonte, so we know how to handle it,” LeBron James said. “I’m sure he’ll be OK. Basketball has nothing to do with what’s going on. He needs to take as much time as he needs, and when he comes back, we’ll welcome him as we’ve always done.”

James said he called West but didn’t get an answer.
