Richard Jefferson was on crutches and wearing a medical boot when he spoke with reporters for the first time on Wednesday since having ankle surgery.
“I’m not going to come back sooner to keep up with a reputation,” said Jefferson. “You don’t want to be dumb about it. There’s no need in coming back early and hurting yourself and missing more time.”
