Ronnie Brewer Shipped To Memphis

Hooped Up | February 18, 2010

The Utah Jazz have traded shooting guard Ronnie Brewer to the Memphis Grizzlies for a future first-round draft pick. Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor says the deal came together just before the 3 p.m. ET trade deadline on Thursday.

O’Connor says the Jazz have some depth at Brewer’s position, so they could afford to trade their first-round pick from the 2006 draft. Brewer is making US$2.7 million this season and will be a restricted free agent this summer.

Celtics Offically Land Nate Robinson

Hooped Up | February 18, 2010

Let the leprechaun jokes begin! The Boston Celtics have officially landed Nate Robinson from the New York Knicks after days of trade foreplay.

A long two days finally came to a conclusion this afternoon, when the Celtics and Knicks agreed to a five-player deal that will send Eddie House, J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker to New York in exchange for Nate Robinson and reserve forward Marcus Landry.

Both teams are now waiting for approval from the NBA – a process that could take time, considering the number of trades that the league office now has to approve.

We already know this deal helps plan “NYC LBJ 2010″ for the Knicks. But for the C’s, I don’t think this trade puts them over the top in the east, especially after the Cavs scooped up Antawn Jamison. However, at the very least this deal might give Ray Allen the rest he needs in the regular season before he turns it up for the playoffs.

That’s a good thing.

Tyrus Thomas Traded To The Bobcats

Hooped Up | February 18, 2010

After years of saber-rattling from the Bulls about trading Tyrus Thomas. Chicago has finally done the deed, shipping Thomas to the Charlotte Bobcats for two players in return according to the Chicago Tribune.

League sources confirmed that the Bulls will send Thomas to Charlotte for Acie Law, Ronald Murray and a protected future first-round draft choice, pending league approval.

I’m sure the word “potential” will follow Thomas to Charlotte and paired with Tyson Chandler in the Bobcats front court, Daniel Day Lewis and I believe that “There Will Be Shots Blocked”.

Tracy McGrady Traded To Kings

Hooped Up | February 18, 2010

Waking up this morning the last team I expected to win the Tracy McGrady sweepstakes was the Sacramento Kings, or any other team not named the Knicks for that matter. Well after some Chai tea and some more research, there it was.

Tracy McGrady shipped off to the Kings, for guards Kevin Martin and Sergio Rodriguez, center Hilton Armstrong and forward Kenny Thomas.

The Kings also reportedly will get hard as nails forward Carl Landry, and seldom-used forward Joey Dorsey. According to ESPN.com, the dust hasn’t settled on this deal yet and the Knicks will try to acquire T-Mac from his new team.

Lets see what happens before the 3PM EST trade deadline.

Eduardo Najera To The Mavs

Hooped Up | January 11, 2010

In a not so earth shattering deal, the Mavericks have acquired Eduardo Najera from the Nets in exchange for Kris Humphries and Mavs headache Shawne Williams from the Nets. Owner Mark Cuban will save about $4.7 million on this deal plus a ton of aspirin.

On the down side, getting traded to a team prime to break the record for the most losses in a season has gotta hurt. On the up side, now Kris Humphries and Shawne Williams will have unlimited access to DJ Pauly D for their house jams.
