Marbury Wants More Money To Stay In China

Hooped Up | March 9, 2010

Show me a content Stephon Marbury and I’ll point out a Starbury impostor.

After failing to make the playoffs in the CBA with his team Shanxi Zhongyu. Marbury wants $2 million to remain with the Chinese squad two months into signing a deal to join the team.

Marbury has put up Marbury like numbers in China averaging 23.1 points, 9.4 assists and 6.2 rebounds, but he isn’t happy with the cold weather of Shanxi province. Originally, Marbury’s plan was to join the club as a promotional vehicle to sell his Starbury sneaker line, but I guess the exchange rate on sub-standard athletic apparel is on par worldwide.

Currently Marbury is earning $25K a month the playing the CBA, please don’t feel bad for him.

Marbury Makes His China Debut

Hooped Up | February 2, 2010

Despite being jet lagged, former Knick Stephon Marbury made his debut in the Chinese Basketball Association yesterday and tallied 15 points, 8 dimes, four steals and four rebounds with his new club Shanxi who lost 102-101 to Dongguan Marco Polo.

“The time difference is a big problem,” Marbury told The Post via Skype yesterday. “I wake up early, in the middle of the night, and stay up most of the day. It stinks. I have not played since the last game against the Magic [in the second round of the playoffs last May]. So I was tired. I played 28 minutes, all of the fourth quarter. Talk about being tired. Wow. It was fun being out there though.”

It’s good to see Starbury back in the mix playing somewhere and if he eventually makes it back to the NBA don’t be surprised.

Stephon Marbury Will Play In China

Hooped Up | January 18, 2010

It’s been a while since we’ve all been blessed with some odd Stephon Marbury news. So when some finally surfaced you knew it was gonna be weird, and him playing basketball in China definitely qualifies as weird news.

In the past Marbury stated that he would like to play in Italy, but I that dream looks like it will be put on hold to play for Shanxi Zhongyu of the Chinese Basketball Association instead. Just one year ago, Marbury was the second highest paid player in the league playing for the defending NBA champions and now he’ll play for a fraction of his former $21 million per season salary for one of the CBA’s worst teams.

Shanxi Zhongyu is currently 15th in the 17-team CBA league with a 3-9 record. Former Houston Rockets Maurice Taylor and former Juco star Lee Benson are currently the two foreign players on Shanxi’s roster, and one will be cut if Marbury is signed according to Shanxi Zhongyu general manager Zhang Beihai.

This situation promises to be entertaining on so many levels.

Now for only $14.99 (which is about as much as the sneakers he sells) you can smell like Starbury and reek of eccentricity too. All I know is if he does a commercial for this product, I’ll watch it everyday because it will be über awesome!!!

I ain’t kiddin’ around either.

All-Anything: The All-Eccentric Team

Hooped Up | November 13, 2009

To quote, English writer and critic Edith Sitwell. “Eccentricity is not, as dull people would have us believe, a form of madness. It is often a kind of innocent pride, and the man of genius and the aristocrat are frequently regarded as eccentrics because genius and aristocrat are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd.”

With that quote, I give you the All-Eccentric team. To make this squad you had to be on a NBA roster in the past year and be considered borderline crazy to the untrained eye.

When Starbury And MSG Security Meet

Hooped Up | November 2, 2009

Ever try recording a movie — at the movie theatre? Well apparently, while that type of thing is frowned upon in the movie industry. It’s a-o-kay at a Knicks game to record live action if you’re sitting in the correct seat and your name is Stephon Marbury. Read More »

Marbury Calls D’Antoni A Horrible Coach

Hooped Up | October 16, 2009

Stephon Marbury has now officially said that he’ll take this season off. Whether that decision is based on a lack of interest from NBA teams, a need to build his empire or because the la hasn’t felt his system yet. I’m pretty sure when he returns, it won’t be for the Knicks — who already hate him, after his comments regarding his former team calling them a “mess” and Mike D’Antoni “horrible”.

That’s right Roxanne, the pot is now calling the kettle black. Read More »

Marbury Drops A Jay-Z Freestyle Diss

Hooped Up | September 30, 2009

You have either got to be an ill lyricist like NAS or a crazy man to throw battle rhymes at Jay-Z. Enter, Stephon Marbury MC Starbury.

Proving that old beefs die hard. Marbury has been going at Jay-Z lately because of lyrics from Jay-Z’s single released in 2000-freakin’-3, “La, La, La” where HOV said, “Don’t confuse me with Marbury out this bitch / run up on me at the light, you could lose your life.

So last week, Marbury called Jay-Z a camel (I guess he reads Bossip) and now he dropped a few bars of anti-Jay-Z lyrics on the Internet saying. Read More »

More Of Marbury Doing Marbury

Hooped Up | September 10, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

Stephon Marbury is one entertaining dude! He could read the alphabet and it would create traffic on the web. Of course he would be doing it upside down, on a subway covered in Vaseline with his chauffeur break dancing in the background to help things out, but that’s just good alphabet marketing.

Anyway, Marbury in this video addresses Brendan Haywood’s comments, shows us his bedazzled toe nails and quotes Sisqo. I hope nobody ever takes a video camera away from Stephon Marbury for as long as he lives.
