Homer News: Charlotte Bobcats (34-32)

Hooped Up | March 17, 2010

Charlotte Bobcats’ win streak is halted against Pacers
Gerald Wallace saw this one coming, even before he stepped into the Charlotte Bobcats’ locker room following the upset of the Orlando Magic Sunday, Wallace turned to a reporter and said, “It’s Indiana I worry about.”

He had cause to worry. There’s a pattern to these things — beat a great team, lose to a lousy one – and they were true to their history this season in a 99-94 loss to the Indiana Pacers that wasn’t as close as the final score suggests.

They did themselves in by flubbing the little things, committing 19 turnovers and missing 11 free throws. They were down 15, cut the deficit to three in the final 20 seconds, and then the last of those turnovers – a bad pass by Boris Diaw – robbed them of what could have been a tying possession.

So a franchise-best six-game winning streak is history…

Warriors Send Stephen Jackson To Bobcats

Hooped Up | November 16, 2009

Serenity Now! After months of Stephen Jackson feeling ship wrecked on the S.S. Nellie. The Golden State Warriors have pulled the trigger on a deal to send Jax to Charlotte in a four-player deal.

In exchange,  the Bobcats ship Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic to the Warriors for Jackson and guard Acie Law. The Bobcats were not on Jackson’s list of teams he wanted to be traded to, so that’s why the Warriors made him walk the plank to Charlotte. Read More »

Jackson To The Cavs?

Hooped Up | October 19, 2009

You have not heard the last of the Stephen Jackson trade rumors involving the Cavs. According to sources, the Cavs do have an interest in Jackson and have had some internal discussions about trading for him. He is a quality perimeter defender and has championship experience with the San Antonio Spurs.

With strong team leaders and Mike Brown, who is close to Jackson and coached him in two different stops, there is a belief the Cavs could harness his good qualities and suppress his bad ones that he’s been showing in an effort to get out of Golden State. However, right now there is no trade that works between the Cavs and Warriors.

Jackson Isn’t A Fan Of His Teammates Or Kobe

Hooped Up | October 15, 2009

A day after abandoning his captaincy, speaking of a strained relationship with Nelson and reiterating that he wants out of Golden State, Jackson went a step further. He called out his teammates for the first time this season.

“Nobody reacted but me, so the team didn’t have a reaction,” Jackson said after practice Wednesday, referring to his emotionally charged matchup with Kobe Bryant on Friday. “It was only me standing up for myself. I don’t think anybody else stood up for me. Read More »

What Started The Warriors-Jackson Beef?

Hooped Up | October 13, 2009

With his two-game suspension coming to an end, forwardStephen Jackson said Monday he is ready to rejoin theWarriors. It began in Friday’s exhibition against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Forum. Jackson and the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant were locked up against each other in the first quarter. The competition became testy, and Jackson picked up five fouls and a technical foul in the quarter. Jackson voiced his anger at the coaching staff when he was taken out of the game at the 2:50 mark of the quarter. Jackson said he was upset because the coaches left him in the game despite his foul trouble, and he felt they didn’t stick up for him with the replacement referees.

Stephen Jackson Fined $25K

Hooped Up | September 16, 2009

Last year, the Golden State Warriors finished with a record of 29 – 53 after a few losing key free-agents, a few trades, and one moped accident.

Now Stephen Jackson no longer wants to be marooned on No Chance In The West Island and wants to play for a new crew. The only problem is that Captain Jack decided to shout his trade demand from the mast of his shipwrecked boat instead of just telling his parrot.

Jackson Wants Out Of Golden State

Hooped Up | August 31, 2009

Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Jackson has certainly changed his tune in the past nine months.

In November, when the 31-year-old announced his three-year $US28-million contract extension, he proclaimed his desire to help rebuild the struggling team.

But on Friday, Jackson told Dime Magazine he has requested a trade and included a list of preferred destinations: Cleveland, New York or anywhere in Texas.

Golden State has only made the post-season once in the past 15 seasons and it’s part of the reason why he wants to leave.

“I’m just looking to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship,” he said.

Even Stephen Jackson is getting his “Protege” on. The bargain high-quality, high-performance basketball shoe is $34.99 US for men, $27.99 US for kids and come in a variety of colorways for the fashionista on a budget.

It’s good to see guys like Marbury and Harrington making it possible for kids to play the best game in the world with low sneaker prices.
