The Heat Sign Livingston

Hooped Up | October 6, 2008

Pat Riley gets a big point guard with a lot to prove in Shaun Livingston finally back after being sidelined the entire 07 - 08 season after a Joe Theismann like injury.

“After days of fending off reports that a signing was imminent, the Heat agreed to terms with the 23-year-old free agent on a two-year contract.Terms were not released, but the salary is below the $1.9 million lower-level salary-cap exception the Heat has remaining, with no option year included in the package.

Three days after Heat President Pat Riley insisted the potential addition of Livingston was a “dead issue,” Riley added the type of tall ballhandler he has coveted since his days guiding Magic Johnson with the Lakers.”

Livingston And Heat Are Close To Deal

Hooped Up | October 3, 2008

After a summer of speculation and a few teams kicking the tires on Shaun Livingston, it looks like the Miami Heat are close to signing the 6′8″ point guard.

“Free agent Shaun Livingston is on the verge of joining the Heat. The former Clippers point guard, a source said, will meet with Heat management today, at which time he is expected to be added to the roster. The Heat, which currently has the NBA maximum of 20 players in training camp, will have to make a minor personnel move to create roster space.”

Livingston Still Without A Team

Hooped Up | September 25, 2008

Because of a crowded backcourt, Shaun Livingston will not join the Portland Trailblazers and is still without a team. Booo!

“During Wednesday’s media day at the Rose Garden, Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard said the team will not sign Shaun Livingston. Former 76er Shavlik Randolph will sign a non-guaranteed contract, with the opportunity to battle for the remaining roster spot (along with Steven Hill, Luke Jackson and Jamaal Tatum).”

Odds Favor Blazers To Add Livingston

Hooped Up | September 15, 2008

Like I’ve mentioned before, you’d be crazy to not sign Livingston to a deal if you have the cap room and roster space.

“Free-agent guard Shaun Livingston, fighting back from a devastating knee injury, had private workouts with the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves in the past 48 hours and league sources expect him to sign with one of three teams next week. Livingston worked out in Portland on Friday, and two league sources believed the Blazers are the favorites to sign the ex-Los Angeles Clippers guard. Still, it is unclear whether Portland general manager Kevin Pritchard has been convinced enough to add yet another guaranteed contract to his roster. ”

Warriors Interested In Livingston

Hooped Up | August 29, 2008

Any team that does not pick up Shaun Livingston is crazy!  Bad knee aside, 6,8″ point guards do not grow on trees and you can’t teach tall.  Also he’s 22 years old, and at that age bones heal like Wolverine bub.

“With Monta Ellis’ recent ankle injury, the Golden State Warriors are looking thin at point guard. Might the recuperating Shaun Livingston be the answer to the team’s woes?

There have been reports that the former Illinois star has looked impressive in recent workouts during the summer—impressive enough that Warriors General Manager Chris Mullin has visited Chicago to obtain his personal insight.”

Will The Clippers Sign Livingston?

Hooped Up | June 14, 2008

Shaun Livingston could be a free man agent if the Clippers do not tender an offer by June 30th.

Henry Thomas, the agent for Clippers guard Shaun Livingston, said Friday that there currently are no talks going on between he and the team. However, Thomas said he expects to be in contact with the Clippers, with the deadline of June 30th approaching. That’s the day that day that the Clippers must tender Livingston a minimum contract offer of $5.8 million. Otherwise, Livingston would become an unrestricted free agent the following day.

Orange County Register

Even after coming off a serious injury Linvingston could add some serious depth to a roster looking for a young point guard at a bargain basement  price.

Clippers’ Livingston Dislocates Knee Cap

Hooped Up |

Clippers point guard Shaun Livingston dislocated his left knee and had to be wheeled off the court on a stretcher during Monday night’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats

The three-year veteran was driving to the basket on a fast break and went up from a layup. He missed the shot and came down hard on his left foot in a contorted manner and collapsed in obvious pain as the Staples Center crowd grew hushed.

He had X-rays taken, which were negative, then was driven to Centinella Freeman Regional Medical Center in Marina del Rey for further evaluation.
