The NBA’s World AIDS Day PSA

Hooped Up | December 1, 2009

If you can see this, then you might need a Flash Player upgrade or you need to install Flash Player if it's missing. Get Flash Player from Adobe.

I had no idea that today is World AIDS Day, but thanks to this PSA with ballers Luke Walton, Lamar Odom, Sam Dalembert teaming up with Jamie Foxx and Queen Latifah I do now. It’s pretty crazy that after all these years since AIDS came into the worlds spotlight heightening awareness. People are still being affected by this terrible virus at an alarming rate.

AIDS has killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007, and an estimated 33.2 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 2 million lives in 2007, of which about 270,000 were children.

If you feel you’ve been put at risk to get HIV or AIDS, get tested.

Walton Out Two Weeks

Hooped Up | January 5, 2009

Stacy Elizabeth Beshear loves her some Luke Walton, and a hobbled Luke Walton has got to be high on her fantasy list! So with Walton sidelined and slowed for two weeks with a foot injury, the Lakers better beef up security in case she chases him down in a foot race in his driveway.

“The Lakers announced that forward Luke Walton will be sidelined at least two weeks because of an injury in his right foot.

Walton was examined today by foot specialist Dr. Ken Jung from the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Group, who said the Lakers forward is suffering from sesamoiditis, or irritation in the sesamoids, the small bones that run to the big toe.”

Luke Walton Has A Stalker

Hooped Up | October 8, 2008

Maybe Luke Walton will never be an All-star, an Olympian or as annoying as his dad but! One thing he does have, is a stalker. Eat that Kobe Bryant!  When you reach the level of stockerbility as a celeb, you know you’ve arrived and endorsement are on the way.  Just think, if crazy people know who you are then just think of all the non-crazies that do too.  I know genius!

Here is a picture of Luke Walton’s stalker and  she has a look on her face that says “I will totally make a hat out of your kidneys”.  Luke 1 – Kobe 0.

“A woman has been charged with stalking Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton. Stacy Elizabeth Beshear of El Segundo, Calif., was arrested Sept. 18 after she pulled up to his car and pretended to fire gunshots at him with her hand, police Sgt. Steve Tobias said. Beshear, 34, has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor count of stalking. ”

Walton’s Rehab On Track

Hooped Up | September 11, 2008

Luke Walton is ready for rehab.

“Luke Walton is hoping to receive medical clearance this afternoon to begin workouts on his surgically repaired right ankle and he said the ankle should be 100 percent by mid-October. He has been doing some rehabilitation exercises since getting off the protective boot and worked out on a weight resistant treadmill for the first time Tuesday.”
