Hooped Up | October 26, 2009

Another van glorious season of NBA basketball is about to begin and Hooped Up does a quick and dirty preview of all 30 clubs.

Ridnour Out Four Weeks, Millions Shocked

Hooped Up | February 6, 2009

Luke Ridnour some how got 1,039,902 votes beating out eventual All-Star reserves selections Joe Johnson by 619, 692 and Jameer Nelson by 685,129. So news of him being out of action for a month is guaranteed to send shock waves through the world of basketball and probably the underground Internet fighting community.

“The Milwaukee Bucks injury problems continued on Friday, as starting point guard Luke Ridnour will miss approximately four weeks of action due to a fractured right thumb.

Ridnour suffered the injury in practice on Thursday.”

Save The Fan From NBA All-Star Voting Please

Hooped Up | January 30, 2009

I’m not crazy about the NASA math-lottery project that is the NBA All-Star roster selection process and I really think the NBA should just pick the entire All-Star squad themselves and spare us the confusing leftover numbers of the “vote”. In most cases, the typical fan needs to be saved from themselves and in the end the NBA picks the team anyway.

I have no problem with the starters selected because an idiot couldn’t have messed that up, but here are some of the leftover numbers that really bug me! Read More »

Mo Williams The Center Piece Of Three-Way Trade

Hooped Up | August 14, 2008

The Cleveland Cavaliers landed some offensive help for LeBron James in the backcourt on Wednesday, as they picked up point guard Mo Williams in a three-team trade with the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City.

The Cavs acquired Williams while parting ways with guard Damon Jones and forward Joe Smith.

Jones will land in Milwaukee, along with former Oklahoma City point guard Luke Ridnour and swingman Adrian Griffin. Oklahoma City will receive Smith and Bucks forward Desmond Mason.

A five-year veteran, Williams averaged 17.2 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Bucks last season. A second-round pick by the Utah Jazz out of Alabama in 2003, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Williams has five years and $43 million left on a contract he signed last summer with Milwaukee after posting similar numbers in the 2006-07 season — 17.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game.
